Vauxhall cars are now back in Colombo after over 50 years with the opening of a modern state of the art show room at Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7 recently.

Mark Lambird of Vauxhall UK told the Business Times that his company’s Sri Lankan dealer Vauxhall, Auto Mart Pvt Ltd, will market three of their latest cars – the Mokka, Corsa and Agila bringing a novel experience for Vauxhall clients in the island.

Vauxhall has been a pioneer in bringing together ground breaking technology, safety and design to produce outstanding cars, he said, adding that the Sri Lankan market will find their motor solutions with them.

Especially built for city driving and parking, the 5-seater Agila is both compact and affordable and is equipped with clever storage solutions.

The Mokka offers customers a whole new experience in SUVs – a refined and elegant vehicle that is suitable for any environment or terrain.

The Corsa combines luxury, design and versatility and is a car that works for everybody, he opined.

Vauxhall Auto Mart will be bringing this renowned brand back to the local market for the first time since 1960, said Pinsiri Fernando, Managing Director of Vauxhall Auto Mart Pvt Ltd.

He expressed the confidence that the three new Vauxhall models will work really well for local customers since they epitomize the values of one of the world’s oldest and most recognised motor brands.

With humble beginning as a bus body building company in 1954, Suncity, the parent company of Vauxhall Auto Mart, has since expanded to include a wide collection of automobiles.

After the economy was opened in 1977, the company started importing used, reconditioned and brand new vehicles.

Mr. Fernando is the second largest shareholder of Sathosa Motors, which holds the exclusive dealership for Isuzu vehicles.

Vauxhall started making cars in 1903. The company’s vision and philosophy has remained throughout 100 years of change and into a forward thinking era.

Since manufacturing its first car- the 6HP in 1903, the company’s portfolio has grown to include a range of cars and vans.
