A total of 33 Sri Lankan students graduated in 2013 June with their Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualifications from VSMU (Vitebsk State Medical University) a world leading Medical university from Eastern Europe. These students are from various parts of Sri Lanka with various family backgrounds. They had one common dream – a dream of becoming a Medical doctor. I am a former medical student of Vitebsk state medical university. I spent a period of 6 years in Vitebsk, Belarus. My stay at the university was memorable for many reasons but most of all that I had great teachers who were willing to go out of their way to help me. This was a great support for me to become a good medical doctor.

Living and studying Belarus was a life changing experience. Not only did I receive a complete education, I also made many valuable acquaintances and met new friends who enriched my life. Excellent place to study
Without a doubt I believe it was one of the best decisions I have made. Vitebsk Sate Medical University is an amazing institution with an exceptional course in medicine for a period of six years. The professors are friendly. The hospitals are up to state and also very close to campus. All foreign students have a place in the hostel therefore accommodation is not a problem. But students can also choose to live in apartments. What I liked the most about Vitebsk as a town it is very beautiful and peaceful. Vitebsk Belarus is a one of a calm place and I recommend it to any student looking for quality medical education.
