A ban on election meetings, musical shows and use of pubic address systems around GCE (Advanced Level) exam and Year 5 scholarship exam centres and in areas where provincial council elections are being held will be strictly enforced, said Commissioner General of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya on Friday. He said the ban will apply in the Northern, North Western and Central provinces.
The GCE A/L exam is being held from August 5 to end of the month, while the Year 5 scholarship exam will be held on August 25.
‘We have a monitoring room at the election secretariat where persons can complain about any violations”, he said.
