Estonia’s Foreign Minister Urmas Paet has invited Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities to promote Sri Lanka in Estonia in view of the island’s natural and scenic attractions at its upcoming tourism exhibition.
The Estonian Foreign Minister made these observations during a meeting with Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at his ministry Office recently. This is the first time a high level Estonian delegation arrived in this country.
Estonia holds a tourism promotion exhibition in the Estonian capital Tallnin in the second week of February every year with the participation of a number of different tourism organisations, according to Foreign Minister Paet. Minister Paet further said that he was able to clear misconceptions he had about Sri Lanka during this visit and invited the Sri Lankan private sector to invest in his country.
Minister Rajapaksa told the Estonian Foreign Minister that Sri Lanka’s economy and tourism have today reached high levels of progress. Industry and Commerce Ministry Secretary Anura Siriwardene and other high officials too participated in the meeting.
