Diesel & Motor Engineering Company (DIMO), HNB Assurance and HDFC Bank won trophies in the large, medium and small sectors, respectively. “Brandix Lanka in the large scale category and Vallibel Power Erathna in the small category gained a positive nod from the panel of judges as First Time Entrant reporting companies who conformed to the stringent reporting guidelines benchmarked against GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines and best business practices complied with globally,” according to an ACCA statement. Adding to the rewarded list of companies, were runners up Dialog Axiata in the large scale, Convenience Foods (Lanka) in the small scale and joint runners up in the medium scale category were Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings and John Keells Hotels. Commendations were given to Union Assurance and John Keells Holdings in the medium and large scale categories.

Country Director, Sri Lanka Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank, Rita O’Sullivan who was Chief Guest, commended ACCA for promoting environment, social and governance reporting for over twenty years and said that ACCA taking up the challenge to provide solutions to global sustainability issues such as the loss of natural capital is certainly praiseworthy. “These awards will serve to benchmark Sri Lanka’s businesses, be they large companies or SME’s, against global reporting guidelines and incentivise businesses to act with more accountability and with greater transparency geared towards promoting sustainable development.”
