Ven. Dhammarathana Thera new chief incumbent of Mihinthale Rajamaha Viharaya
View(s):Ven. Walawahengunuwewe Dhammarathana Thera who was the acting chief incumbent and guardian of the Mihinthale Rajamaha Viharaye was appointed the chief incumbent of the temple.
This appointment was made by the Malwatte Chapter Mahanayake, Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, and accepted by the Buddhist Affairs Commissioner General, Chandraprema Gamage. The appointment makes Ven. Dhammarathana Thera the chief incumbent of the 12 temples affiliated to the Mihinthale Rajamaha Viharaya
Ven. Dhammarathana Thera who has been a monk since 1987 was a student of the late Ven. Walawahengunuwewe Rathanapala Rathanajothi Thera.
He achieved higher ordination on May 14, 1990. Having had his primary education at Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Mihinthale, Ven. Dhammarathana Thera completed his higher education at the Pali and Buddhist Universit,y obtaining a bachelor’s degree in arts.
