Sanjaya awarded Kadirgamar Journalism Scholarship
View(s):Sanjaya Nallaperuma of the Lakbima is the recipient of the 2012/2013 Lakshman Kadirgamar Journalism Scholarship. He will proceed shortly to follow the Diploma in Journalism course at the prestigious Manorama School of Communication (MASCOM) in Kerala, India, under the tutelage of well known Professor Thomas Oommen.

Hundreds of journalists working in the Indian media are graduates of MASCOM, many of them holding key positions.
Mr. Nallaperuma was a Merit Certificate winner of the Denzil Peiris Young Reporter of the Year Award at last year’s Journalism Awards for Excellence Programme conducted by the Sri Lanka Press Institute and The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka.
The scholarship is presented by the Lakshman Kadirgamar Foundation in memory of the late Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar who was assassinated in August, 2005. MASCOM offers free tuition fees and accommodation for the Sri Lankan scholarship winner, in honour of the late Mr. Kadirgamar.
Mr. Nallaperuma is the fourth Sri Lankan journalist to go on this scholarship.
