Three well known musicians will represent Sri Lanka at the International Harbour Festival in Denmark. They will be performing in Helsingor (the place of Shakespeare’s Hamlet), and in Esbjerg from October 5 -14.

Multi-talented musician, composer and singer Rukshan Perera, who leads the band “Trio Lanka” with Ruwan Weerasekara on violin/vocals and Lelum Rathnayake on percussion/vocals, says they are honoured to represent Sri Lanka at the international festival.

The festival focuses on music that has been transferred from one country to another (from harbour to harbour) during the colonial times. “Trio Lanka” will be showcasing how Portuguese sailors brought Kaffringha music to Sri Lanka, and how it has evolved through the years, presenting novel arrangements of the songs in different styles using guitar, violin and percussion with all three of them singing in harmony.
