Mallawaarachchi the hero for Wattala Lyceum

Chelaka Mallawaarachchi with a blazing knock of 107 not out was the hero for Lyceum, Wattala when they defeated their Nugegoda counterparts by six wickets in the final of the International Schools under 19 cricket final at the Health grounds recently. The tournament was conducted by Gateway College.

Taking first lease of the wicket, Lyceum, Nugegoda ran up a formidable score of 191 runs before they were dismissed with Dehan Anthony in cracking form to top score with 90 runs. Lyceum International, Wattala in reply with Mallawaarachchi leading the run chase knocked off the required runs with six wickets to spare in the 37th over of their innings.

At the awards ceremony, Chelaka Mallawaarachchi of Lyceum, Wattala walked off with the best batsman’s and man of the final awards. Kalana Perera of Nugegoda was awarde the best bowler’s award. Nimesha Perera of Wattala was adjudged the best fielder and the man of the tournament award was won by Sachithra Perera of Wattala.
