Navy, Air Force, Colts register wins with a day to spare

Navy along with Air Force and Colts recorded outright wins with a day to spare from the six matches in the Under 23 Division One cricket tournament played around the metropolis.The three teams won their matches with ease with Navy and Air Force recording innings wins over BRC and Moratuwa SC played at Welisara and Rifle Green while Colts coasted to a massive 434 runs win over Chilaw Marians at Colts ground.

The hero of Navy’s victory was their star left arm Dulanjana Mendis who ended up with his second successive 12 match bag and was supported by right arm pacie Yoshan Kumara who finished with a eight wicket match bag.Air Force was too good for Moratuwa SC whom they crushed by an innings and 176 runs.

Shihan Kamileen (167) and Nilochana Perera (107) laid the foundation for the massive win for Colts against Chilaw Marians with the pair slamming tons helping Colts to make a massive score of 401 for declared in the second innings. Tamil Union was on top against Moors and looks set to record a comfortable victory at the P. Sara Stadium.

Moors made to follow on with a deficit of 163 runs managed to end the day on 183 for 8 and they now have a lead of just 20 runs with two wickets in hand. Army too had the upper hand against Leo CC at Panagoda.  They are in line of securing an easy win on the final day today.

The match between Bloomfield and CCC at Reid Avenue was at an interesting stage when play ended on day two.
