‘Weeraya Merila’ in Negombo
View(s):Rajitha Dissanayake’s critically acclaimed drama ‘Weeraya Merila’ (The Hero is dead) will be staged at the Negombo Town Hall on July 21 at 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm.
The play which staged its 100th show marking the 10th anniversary has returned with fresh faces for the title characters. When the play was first staged in 2002, it won five awards including ‘Best Play’ at the State Drama Festival.
“Weeraya Merila’ revolves around a journalist who is caught up in a society influenced by the corporate media. The cast include Priyankara Ratnayake, Dharmapriya Dias, Shyam Fernando, Gihan de Chikera, Prasad Sooriyarachchi, Dayadewa Edirisinghe, Sampath Jayaweera, Samadhi Laksiri, Dilini Sandeepika and Nalin Lusena.
