Ramesh guides Dharmasoka to victory

Ramesh Mendis with an all-round performance guided Dharmasoka to their first outright victory of the Under 19 inter-school cricket tournament. Ramesh’s 59 and match figures of 6 for 28 helped Dharmasok to record an easy innings and 23 runs win over Zahira at Maradana yesterday.

The morning session of the second day’s play saw Zahira resuming from their overnight score of 87 for 8 making 115 with right arm pacie Yohan Rashmika ending with impressive figures of 5 for 28. He was supported by Chamath Kavinda who finished 3 wickets for 17.

Dharmasoka in their turn guided by Ramesh, who made 59 with seven boundaries and a six and two useful knocks coming from Adeesha Dilanja and Udith Tharaka, made 227. At the BRC ground right arm pacie Charith Rajapakse and left arm spinner Sineth Mallawaarachchi steered Isipathana to a comfortable first inning win over Lumbini MV in their Under 19 inter-school cricket match at the BRC grounds yesterday.

Charith and Sineth shared seven wickets between them to bundle out Lumbini MV to a lowly 98. At Maradana. Zahira (87/8 overnight) 115 (Imras Rafi 43, Wasim Sinnen 15 n.o.: Yohan Rashmika 5 for 28, Chamath Kavinda 3 for 17) and 89 (Pradeep Ananda 29, Mohamed Arshad 21, M. Nassik 15: Ramesh Mendis 6 for 28, Chamath Gunasinghe 2 for 18, Yohan Rashmika 2 for 27)
Dharmasoka 227 (Ramesh Mendis 59, Adeesha Dulanja 45, Udith Tharaka 35: Pradeep Ananda 5 for 90, Wasim Sinnen 2 for 39)

At BRC
Isipathana (199/9 overnight) 200 (Harith Wanigaarchchi 64, Pawan Anjana 39, Deshan Jeyakumar 31: Damith Priyadarshana 5 for 22, Tharindu Lakmal 2 for 34, Hashan Chirantha 2 for 42) and 13 for no loss.

Lumbini MV 98 (Damith Priyadarshana 47: Charith Rajapakse 4 for 27; Sineth Mallawaarchchi 3 for 4) and 218 for 8 declared (Damith Priysdarshana 92, Pradeep Wasantha 44, Janith Dias 19: Sidath Mallawaarchchi 3 for 41, Kaminda Dananjaya 2 for 35)
