JOIN SINGAPORE INFORMATICS FOR HIGHER STUDIES

Sri Lanka has one of the highest rates of literacy in the world. In 1989, 520,000 students sat the GCE Ordinary Level examination and 320.000 qualified to study for the G.C.E Advanced Level examination, and 285,000 sat the G.C.E Advanced Level examination. Unfortunately, the state universities could accommodate only approximately 22,000 for further education.

The rest of the 108,000 students who qualified at the G.C.E A/L did not get an opportunity to enter a state university, and the few who can afford to spend large sums of money, leave for higher education abroad. The rest of them try to enter private institutions of higher learning and try to study towards a degree.
Singapore Informatics Computer Institute is one of the leading private institutions of higher education. Established in 1994, as a fully owned subsidiary of Informatics Education Limited (I.E.L), Singapore has grown from its existence at Colombo 3 and at Liberty Plaza and has now moved into a larger building at 519, T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10 with all classrooms and laboratories air conditioned and furnished with state-of-the-art facilities.

Singapore Informatics Computer Institute (S.I.C.I.) has already produced more than 600 graduates in the field of Information Technology, Business Administration and Engineering from Universities of Portsmouth, Oxford Brookes, Northumbria and Wales. I.E.L is a multinational corporation with a worldwide presence. Currently Informatics Academic qualifications are offered in 113 centres in 22 countries providing students with the ability to continue their studies in any of these centres.

In addition to the degree programmes, SICI conducts International Diplomas, International Advanced Diplomas and Certificate courses to cater to the needs of students. In addition, SICI offers an International Foundation Programme for those who join after the O/L examination and wish to pursue a degree and complete early. All Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma are awarded by I.E.L Singapore and the NCC Education, while the Degrees are awarded by the respective Universities.
The final evaluations of all examination papers are done by the I.E.L Singapore and the University concerned. The lecturers at SICI tutor and guide students to achieve their ultimate aim.

SICI will be starting the Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management and Event Management awarded by the Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Malaysia. In an era where Sri Lanka is expanding its hotel room availability for tourism, this programme will evoke the interests of many future hoteliers.

At the 14th convocation of the SICI there were some world prize winners and many with merit awards. This alone will speak for the quality of lecturers and the calibre of students at the SICI. It has become the norm, rather than the exception at the SICI convocation to introduce world prize winners year after year. SICI also provides corporate training and offers packages that can be tailored to the needs of the organization. This includes Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cyber Forensics and Project Management Professional (PMP).

SICI has a record of inviting world leaders and industry experts to address the students and the staff at regular intervals. This may be the secret that there are no unemployed graduates produced by SICI during the 14 years of its existence. It has a very active student committee which encourages soccer, basketball and cricket and encourages students to take part in many extra-curricular and religious activities.
