By Sanath Weerasuriya

Michelle Perera, young and versatile singer, comes from a family of musicians. Michie, as her friends call her, hails from the Musical city of Moratuwa and she is the eldest daughter of Melantha Perera of ‘Mirage’ fame.

Michie broke into the music scene with her maiden hit song ‘Me Mal Wasanthe’ few months ago.Currently it is a popular hit song on air waves with Hiru FM, Y FM and Isura FM and in the Chart shows of the radio too. ‘Me Mal Wasanthe’ is penned by papa Melantha and the music and the arrangements too were written by Melantha himself for his daughter.

Michie, who was flying for SriLankan, Ethihad and Qatar Airways, has given up her flying job for in love of music. She is currently working on her maiden video on this song and she is the vocalist of her brother’s band ‘Battery’. Battery led by Devshan Perera is too a talented musician.

‘I do not regret for giving up flying. From the very small age I was dreaming to be a singer and want to learn music like my father. So I think I have started to realised my dream and I have a long way to go. I get all the support and encouragement from my father and all his band mates’ Michie explained.
