Top entrepreneurs must take full advantage of awards

By Quintus Perera

Winning prestigious entrepreneurial accolades should run in line with the best possible publicity and only then the full advantages of such awards could be obtained, said Samantha Kumarasinghe, Chairman, Multichemi International (Pvt) Ltd, and the Sri Lakan Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 the Platinum Award Winner.

He was speaking as the guest speaker at last week’s launch of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka - 14th Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 Awards to be held in December.

FCCISL President Kosala Wickramanayake said the event has been accepted as a unique national recognition of the entrepreneurial skills and achievements in Sri Lanka. The main thrust, he said, is to motivate entrepreneurs to reach the best level of excellence. Mr Kumarasinghe continuing said that Sri Lankan entrepreneurs should invest in a unique product and create an export market rather than importing common products and struggle to market these locally while competing with other similar products.

This year too in addition to other awards the two special awards – Woman Entrepreneur and Young Entrepreneur would also be adjudged.
