Fête de la Musique back

Once again ‘Fête de La Musique’ International Music day organised by the Alliance Française de Colombo will come alive on Sunday June 21 at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium, 11 Barnes Place, Colombo 7. The unique musical event ‘Fête de La Musique’ began in France in 1982 and it is now celebrated all over the world.

Every year professional and amateur musicians in France hang around the streets on this day to celebrate the arrival of summer after a dismal spring. Thousands and thousands of music lovers flock to these parks and streets to enjoy all kinds of music throughout the day.

Here in Sri Lanka too the musical event has grown in popularity amongst the young and old and every year many people take part and people of all ages come to see it and enjoy it.

Alliance Francaise made platform to expose hidden talents of everybody young and old, amateurs and professionals, individuals, school bands, music groups, dancing schools, groups, ballet schools and etc.

The AC welcomes anybody who can sing in any language pop, jazz, classical, rock, Baila or anything goes and play any musical instrument, dance etc. The organisers also give a chance to the up-and coming comperes to show their talents as well.

The all performers will be provided with hall, sound system and background music by popular Annesley Malewana and the Super Chimes and musicians can bring their music groups. Some professionals including a few Sirasa Super Stars are also expected to perform as guest artistes.
