Rugby reforms meeting on May 5

By Harry Jayachandra

Chairman of the Interim Committee of Rugby Dr. Maiya Gunasekera yesterday said that a Special General Meeting would be held at the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) premises on May 5 to finalize constitutional reforms ahead of holding the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

He added; “All the life members, provincial council members and those with voting rights are scheduled to attend this meeting which will begin at 5pm. At an earlier meeting all the changes were discussed. With or without further alterations we will submit the report to the Attorney General for his perusal before scheduling the AGM.”

Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer of Chevron Lubricants Kishu Gomez who are the sponsors of the league tournament speaking to The Sunday Times said;

“We are certainly going to sponsor the league tournament. I know of late there have been some issues with the stakeholders but that is for the administrative body to sort. Ultimately the game is bigger and it is the game that must win out. Thus the league will commence I believe at the end of next month.”
