The batle for ‘Dragonballs’

Live action adventure ‘Dragonball Evolution’ directed by James Wong based on the popular Japanese Manga created by Akira Toriyama is now being screened at Liberty cinema, Colombo.

The film centres around the heroic Goku, a powerful warrior who discovers his inner strength and protects the Earth from an evil rogue bent on dominating the Universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name.

After his grandfather’s death, Goku (Justin Chatwin) goes on a journey to find Master Roshi (Chow Yun-Fat) and gather the seven mystical Dragon Balls before the evil Lord Piccolo (James Marsters) can. Along his way, he meets Bulma (Emmy Rossum) and Yamcha (Joon Park) who both join him to help him with his mission. When arriving at Roshi’s place, he is not welcomed with an embrace but has to fight Roshi.

Roshi soon learns that Goku is the grandson of Gohan (Randall Duk Kim) and thus trains him to prepare him for the ultimate battle with Lord Piccolo to prevent him from collecting the powerful Dragon Balls.

Akira Toriyama’s work also spawned best selling graphic novels, video games and a phenomenally successful television series.

Produced by Stephen Chow, Justin Chatwin cast as Goku, and James Marsters portrays Lord Piccolo, the antagonist of the film.

Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson play the other roles in ‘Dragonball Evolution’.

Released in Japan and several other Asian nations on March, the film will be released in the United States on April 10, 2009. Produced by 20th Century Fox, the film is presented by E.A.P. Film.
