Adel Niyas jumps ahead in International contest

The BATA-The Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy cricketer contest is gathering momentum now and with the completion of Coupon No 8 on March 6 there has been a change in the International School contest with long time leader and last year’s winner Malith Silva of Gateway College being pushed
down to the second slot after having led the first seven counts.
In fact it his team mate Adel Niyas who was lying second has replaced him. Adel at the end of count eight received as much as 673 votes to accumulate 934 votes while Malith received only 115 votes to finish on 750 votes. The others are way behind the duo and will have a tough time getting in to the top.

Meanwhile in the All Island contest Angelo Perera still holds on to the lead but his rival Isham Ghouse is catching up fast. But Angelo this time has improved having received 1529 votes as against 777 of last week to end on 5844 votes while Isham this wek received 1931 votes to finish on 5115 votes.

It’s also a two cornered contest in the Outstation category but Amith Tillekeratne to holds on to the lead from Niwanka Abeyrathne while Krishan Wickramarachchi is making steady progress and is capable of giving the top two a fight.
