The Zonta Woman of Achievement Awards is held once in two years. These awards first began 24 years ago in 1985 and were organised by Zonta Club 1 of Colombo. "We were the first women's organisation to recognise women in various fields," Ramola Sivasundaram, Past President, Zonta Club 1 of Colombo and Chairperson of the Woman of Achievement Awards committee said, adding, "we want to encourage and give women recognition."
Entries for this year’s awards should be sent in with the coupon published in the Daily Mirror and The Sunday Times. The nominee's bio-data too should be sent along.Those applying must have the consent of the nominee. Entries can be posted to the Project Secretariat, 30, Galle Road, Colombo 6 or emailed at polysec@sltnet.lk or delivered by hand, no later than February 14, 2009.
The Zonta Woman of Achievement Awards 2009 will be held at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand on March 8, 2009, to coincide with International Women's Day. MTV and MBC are the electronic media sponsors for the Awards, while the print media sponsors are the Daily Mirror and The Sunday Times. |
