Tigo reaches 2 million subscribers

Tigo said this week that it had reached two million subscribers last year. “Our success is because we give our customers what they expect from a mobile service provider, simplicity and honesty delivering the best value today and tomorrow,” said its CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka in a press statement.
He said 2008 saw heavy investment by the company to expand the network adding an average of 40 towers a month enabling subscribers to enjoy good coverage across the country.

“We have continuously demonstrated Tigo’s commitment to enable customers to freely express themselves at very affordable rates, central to Tigo’s global theme in delivering affordability, accessibility and availability to our customers,” added Mr. Ratnayaka.

The statement said that in a research study carried out by AC Nielson, Tigo tops the list for best customer satisfaction across number of factors including value for money, network quality and customer service.
