Premier Tier ‘A’ Kanchana gives NCC the edge

A 225 ball knock of 135 with 12 boundaries and a six by Kanchana Gunawardena gave NCC the edge over Moors on day two of their Premier League Tier ‘A’ inter-club match at the NCC ground.

Kanchana’s knock saw NCC end on a formidable 287 for 9 before declaring from their overnight score of 183 for 3 with Kanchana being unbeaten on 101.

This was after right arm pacie Kosala Kulasekera, who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 13, ran through the Moors batting on day one to bundle them out for 36.

Moors going into bat the second time with a deficit of 251 runs were 133 for 6 needing a further 118 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Malinda and Ishan put Colts on top

An unbeaten 133 in 190 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries and a six by Malinda Warnapura supported by a knock of 65 with seven boundaries and a six from Ishan Muthaliph helped Colts to be on top against Chilaw Marians at Colts ground.

The duo gave the home team a flying start by putting on an openinga wicket stand of 153 runs which saw them end the second day’s play on 273 for 5 in reply to the Marians score of 250.

Bloomfield takes lead

Bloomfield after being 133 for 6 at one stage fought back to take a first inning lead over SSC thanks to a 106 from Chamara Silva at the SSC ground.
