Marians go Unpluuged for visually handicapped

‘Marians’ will perform unplugged on November 1 at the Ananda College Auditorium at 6.30 pm. Marians unplugged show features popular band Marians and is organised by International Association of Lions Clubs District 306 C 1. The audience will be assured of three and half hours of uninterrupted entertainment with Marians.

International Association of Lions Clubs District 306 C 1 under the guidance and leadership of its incumbent District Governor Dehabandu Lion Dinesh Hettiarachchi has conducted many social service projects during lionistic year 2008/2009. Under the district governors four point programme the district has given priority to 'vision for all' programme which is called ‘sfka cdouq’.

Keeping in line with the programme, the district has made all arrangements to screen cataract patients and to carry out 1000 cataract operations free of charge during the year. According to district governor its costs nearly Rs 15,000/= to 20,000/= if the operation is carried out in a government hospital including medicine and the Lens. The arrangements have also made to distribute spectacles and to screen diabetic patients.

To carry out the above services free of charge the required funds should be mobilized through fundraising projects. Therefore the district has planned to stage a unique musical extravaganza of the popular band 'Marians'.
