Dean says journalists refused to show their IDs

The Dean’s office of the Medical Faculty of the University of Colombo has issued a statement, saying journalists had entered the faculty premises without permission, resulting in last week’s incident at the medical faculty hostel.

The press release from the Dean’s office claims that two unidentified persons were seen to be taking photographs of the hostel and its surroundings, and that they had refused to produce proof of identity, despite repeated requests from the sub-warden that they identify themselves, and that they had continued to take photographs.

The press release added that the unidentified persons had used abusive language and physically attacked the sub-warden, and that his immediate response was to ensure the security of the establishment, in line with University requirements for safety and vigilance.
