Sing a-long with Sam to support Sisters of Charity
 

An evening of music and singing, a Sing-A-Long with Sam will be held on July 12 at 7 pm onwards at the BMICH Banquet Hall to support a number of charity projects by old Kegalle Josephians.

Organised by Past Pupils' Association (PPA) of St. Joseph's Convent (now St. Joseph's Balika Maha Vidyalaya) Kegalle (Colombo Branch) , funds raised through the event will be allocated to help the Home for the Elders at Ranwella, Kegalle, and the Creche, which are run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle.

The spotlight will be on the well known Sam the Man, famous for his Sing-a-long sessions and in addition the audience will be able to walk away with many, many prizes.

PPA of St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle (Colombo Branch) was formed in 1986 on the advice of Ms. Sheila Ratnayake, then Principal of St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle (now St. Joseph's Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle). Accordingly the inaugural meeting of the Colombo Branch was held on July 12, 1986 at the residence Mrs. Michael Fernando in Negombo.

The first project undertaken by the association was to give a scholarship to a needy and promising student in the middle or upper school, as there were many underprivileged children attending this school. Also, to donate a Jaipur foot each to two deserving persons in the security forces from the Kegalle District.

Over the years the association membership grew, and for the current year project they have to raise funds For their latest event, a Sing-A-Long with Sam, entrance is priced at Rs. 500/=, along with a free song book and those interest could phone 011-2713915 or 011-2716272 for collection of song books and any other details.
