Kelani Valley Plantations transforms e-waste to jewellery
View(s):Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (KVPL), a leading regional plantation company under the Hayleys Plantations sector, in partnership with SPJ Creation, has launched a strategic initiative to transform electronic waste into sustainable jewelry and creative, value-added products. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a MOU recently, marking a pioneering step in Sri Lanka’s transition toward circular economy practices and low-carbon innovation, the plantation company said in a media release.
By converting e-waste into commercially viable, aesthetically appealing products, the initiative promotes green entrepreneurship, women engagement, supports circular economy principles, and fosters community engagement. It also creates new livelihood opportunities by empowering local artisans and designers to participate in sustainable production systems.

KVPL’s initiative offers a progressive and timely solution by transforming the growing waste stream into a source of sustainable value.
