Ashen slams double ton as Cops dominate
Skipper Ashen Bandara slammed a career-best knock of 200 runs to help Police SC dominate proceedings against Chilaw Marians at the end of second day’s play in the SLC Major Club 3-day Cricket Tournament encounter played at the Colts ground yesterday.
Ashen’s knock, which came off 235 balls, comprised of 16 boundaries and four sixes and he shared a crucial stand of 121 runs for the ninth wicket with Himesh Ramanayake. Ramanayake remained unbeaten on 70 to help Police SC reach a mammoth total of 477 runs after resuming from their overnight score of 345-5. In response Chilaw Marians struggled for their runs and was badly placed on 147-8.
Colts and Moors SC were on top against Bloomfield and NCC in other matches played at the NCC and CCC grounds respectively. The matches will continue today.
