Forward Ismaila Abumere struck twice to lead Super Sun to a 2-0 win against Moragasmulla SC in a Group ‘B’ match of the FSL Champions League 2025/26 played at the Racecourse ground yesterday. Moragasmulla SC, who salvaged a 1-all draw in the opening week encounter against Pelicans SC, were stunned by Super Sun, who lost their opening week’s outing.

Super Sun defenders gained full control of the game, as the Mohamed Shifan-led Moragasmulla SC failed to find any openings to score, while holding forte. However, Nigerian forward Abumere received two neat feeders from his strikers, which gave Super Sun the two goals in the 40th and 45th minutes to lead the halftime by 2-0.

With both teams failing to breach each other’s defences, the game ended 2-0 in favour of Super Sun, who would move to the second slot of the Group ‘B’ points table next to Police SC. On Friday, Group ‘B’ table leaders, added their second win of the season by an emphatic 5-0 against Matara City SC, while New Star SC moved up to the top of Group ‘A’ after annihilating Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) by 8-0.

Action of FSL Champions League 2025/26 will continue today with Pelicans SC taking on Solid SC from Group ‘B’ at 4:00pm, followed by the Group ‘A’ encounter between Negombo Youth and Saunders at 8:00pm.
