Kandy Kings set make a mark at inaugural CGL
View(s):Sri Lanka’s latest golfing franchise, Kandy Kings, was officially launched on Wednesday in Colombo with the revealing of their team members and commercial partners as the team representing the country’s hill capital set their eyes on the title at the inaugural Ceylon Golf League (CGL). The unveiling of the team was made before a large gathering of golf enthusiasts, sponsors, CGL officials and team representatives, as Kandy Kings, a brand identity deeply rooted in the spirit of Kandy, its heritage, legacy and cultural pride.
“Kandy has always stood for history and honour, the qualities that align naturally with the game of golf. Our team is built on those foundations of legacy and ambition,” stated Michael Sathasivam, the Team Principal of Kandy Kings.

Kandy Kings will enter the league with a powerful lineup, selected through the competitive auction held on October 10, where team officials made sure to include a blend of talent, youth and experience. The Kandy Kings roster will feature Jevahn Sathasivam, Darshan Veeraghavan, Gehan Siribaddana, Chandana Gunasekera, Bandula Weerasinghe, Rajitha Siriwardana, Michael Sathasivam, Ashan Welagedara, Siddarth Hirdaramani, Dilhan Dedigama, Cinci Siegertsz, Jade Jiggens, Ahalya Rajan, Roshini Sangani and Dhanushi Wanasinghe, a perfect mix of experience and rising talent from the local amateur circuit.
“We are confident that the team resonate with a fan base that goes beyond the boundaries of the city, while at the same time creating an exciting gold brand which will compete hard in the CGL,” Sathasivam added.
Among the fleet of commpercial partners tied up with Kandy Kings for the inaugural CGL, Softlogic Holdings takes the fore as the team’s title sponsor. The CGL, the country’s first franchise-format golf tournament, will tee off from December 5 to 7 at the iconic Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) greens.
