Anusha David: RAS founder

Showcasing evening wear
Gabriel’s Charity Auction and Fashion Show in aid of Rescue Animals Sri Lanka ( RAS) was held on October 31 at the Cinnamon Grand. Gabriel’s Rescue Animals
Sri Lanka was founded by Anusha David and named after her father Gabriel, whose lifelong love for animals and deep commitment to their welfare began over five decades ago.
Designers Brian Kerkoven, Charini Suriyage, Dammika Amarasekere, Jaishri better known as Aashkii, Kamil / Limak and Rajni whose label is Radisi, as well as presenters Aditi, showcased a glittering mix of both evening and smart casual wear. The auction which was handled by Aritha Wickramasinghe and Vrai Raymond, had an eclectic range from handmade pottery, a cricket bat autographed by Mahela Jayawardana, and paintings and sketches by Laki Senanayake, Stanley Kirinde and Raja Segar. Gerald Solomons and his team at Chagall were hair & make up partners for the show, while entertainment was provided by Enroute, headed by Dr Gananath Dissanayake, himself an animal lover.
Today, Gabriel’s RAS is home to over 100 dogs and 30 cats at its sanctuary, and also feeds more than 250 street dogs daily across Colombo and its suburbs. The organization also steps in to rescue and rehabilitate animals suffering from neglect, illness, and injury — providing full medical care and ongoing support through their recovery.
