Opposition parties will put aside their differences and join hands in a show of force against the government at a joint opposition rally to be held in Nugegoda on November 21.  November 14 marks one year since the NPP came to power.

In addition to the UNP and SJB, initial discussions regarding the event have been held with other parties. “Under the NPP government, there is a serious erosion of the rule of law. Most police activities now take place at the whims of the government and this is a serious threat to democracy. Even the leadership of NPP has asserted that no other individual will be allowed to assume power for the next 25 years. This is the beginning of a very disturbing political trend,” an opposition political leader said.
