Appeal for help

A distraught mother is seeking financial assistance to take her daughter for urgent spinal treatment to India.

Ranjani Adikari from Kaduwela said that her 27-year-old daughter, Shanilka, has developed a severe weakness on the right side of her body (right hand and leg) due to tumours in her spine.

She is a graduate and was working until recently, Ranjani said, explaining that Shanilka first got two brain tumours which were successfully shrunk through treatment at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital, India, in 2019.

Ranjani adds that it was later that tumours developed in the spine, with the condition being diagnosed as neurofibromatosis (a genetic condition that causes changes in skin pigment and tumors on nerve tissue).

Doctors here have advised that Shanilka be taken to India for MRI LINAC radiotherapy, which is available at the Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad.

Mother and daughter are seeking help from generous donors as they need 6 million rupees for the treatment. Please send whatever you can spare to: Account No. 174200110018851 at the People’s Bank, Nugegoda, with the Account Name – A M G C S Adikari.
