LKIIRSS participates in CICA think tank forum in Azerbaijan
View(s):The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS) represented Sri Lanka at the 13th meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Think Tank Forum, held from September 9-10, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The forum, on the theme “Resonance of Development and Security: Regional Cooperation and Governance in the Institutional Transformation of CICA”, was organised by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center). Since establishing its academic partnership with SIIS in 2013, LKIIRSS has been Sri Lanka’s designated member of the CICA Think Tank Forum. Bringing together experts, scholars, and policymakers from across Asia, the forum provided a platform for exchanges on regional peace and cooperation. Deliberations focused on contemporary issues such as security, economic growth, trade, connectivity, supply chain resilience, and digital governance — emphasising the need for collective and coordinated responses.
Participants from Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and West Asia contributed perspectives, fostering a constructive exchange of ideas on how to strengthen regional cooperation.
LKIIRSS was represented virtually by Rear Admiral Y N Jayarathne (Retd), Member of the Board of Management of LKIIRSS, and Sulochana Wijayasinghe, Research Assistant.
Participation at the CICA Think Tank Forum reflects Sri Lanka’s commitment to constructive dialogue and knowledge partnerships within Asia. Through LKIIRSS, Sri Lanka seeks to expand its collaborations with think tanks of the region, strengthening its role as a contributor to regional and global conversations.
