Renowned Sri Lankan musician and songwriter Lalith Anthony Perera has released a hard-hitting new song, using his music as a powerful platform to highlight the growing dangers of drug abuse among the country’s youth. Lalith Perera
Lalith Perera, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter from Moratuwa, has unveiled a stirring new musical project that blends artistry with advocacy. His latest release goes beyond melody, delivering a powerful message of hope, awareness and collective action against the rising tide of drug abuse among Sri Lankan youth. With its emotionally charged lyrics and compelling composition, the song stands as a heartfelt plea to protect the younger generation from the dangers of addiction.
Titled ‘Nil Paata, Rathu Paata, Dam Paata, Kaha Paata Lokayak’ (Dream World), the song symbolically portrays the colourful illusions of drug abuse while exposing its devastating consequences on individuals and society.
‘This is not just a piece of music or a song’ Lalith said. ‘It is a call to action, a reminder that we all have a role to play in safeguarding our future generations’.
The project is unique in both its creative process and its technical execution. Perera handled every aspect of the production himself, from lyrics and composition to arrangements and direction. The music video, a striking complement to the song, was crafted using AI-assisted video creation, innovative colour grading and visual transformation techniques, offering a modern and impactful viewing experience.

Nelson Senavirathne
Supporting the project was Nelson Senavirathne, who played a pivotal role as Chief Coordinator, helping to refine and amplify the song’s core message with clarity and purpose.
Lalith and his team are now calling on the public to be part of the movement by listening, sharing, and subscribing to the song online. ‘Your support can help us spread this message to families, schools and communities across Sri Lanka and beyond’ Lalith said.
As drug abuse continues to pose a serious threat to the wellbeing of Sri Lanka’s youth, projects like these are vital in fostering awareness and inspiring change.
‘With music as our voice, let’s work together to build a future free from addiction’ Perera urges. ‘Let’s protect our children, before it’s too late’.
The song’s concept, lyrics, melody, video, and musical composition were all created by Lalith Anthony Perera, with the video production, transformation, and mixing done using advanced AI technology. Vocals were rendered by AI-generated voices, ‘Rani’ and ‘Thakshanika,’ while Nelson Senavirathne served as the Chief Coordinator, overseeing the project’s direction and outreach.
This unique blend of human creativity and AI innovation aims to deliver a powerful message of awareness to audiences across Sri Lanka and beyond.
