Jehovah’s Witnesses will hold international convention in Colombo
View(s):Jehovah’s Witnesses will host their international convention 2025 from September 5 to 7 at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The event is expected to draw over 14,000 attendees, including 3,500 delegates from 10 countries, such as the United States, Australia, Japan, India, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Around 1,700 delegates will arrive from the United States alone. Local attendees will travel from across Sri Lanka, with sessions conducted in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, along with Sri Lankan Sign Language interpretation.
The event is expected to bring economic benefits to the country. According to organisers, foreign delegates are projected to spend about USD 7.5 million during their stay, covering their own travel, accommodation, and expenses.
The programme will focus on themes such as compassion, humility, and generosity and will include talks, interviews, and dramatisations. Entry is free and open to the public.
A cultural evening featuring traditional Sri Lankan dance and music will also be held at the Shangri-La Ballroom.
The convention is organised with support from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Tourism, police, and other authorities.
