Trinity College produced a superior display to crush Vidyartha College by 74-14 in their Dialog Schools Rugby League 2025 match played at Pallekele yesterday. The boys from Trinity, playing on their home turf, dictated terms from the opening whistle, launching wave after wave of attacks and threatening to score almost every time they had the ball in hand.

The hosts, scored from 11 tries, eight conversions and a penalty, while securing bonus points, while Vidyartha’s points came from two
converted tries.

Vidyartha, to their credit, showed good spirit in the first half and managed to cross the whitewash twice, keeping the game alive before lemons. At half time, Trinity held to a solid 29-14 lead, with their forwards and three-quarters combining beautifully to breach Vidyartha’s defence. Vidyartha’s two tries in the first half came off some smart counter-attacking moves, but they could not match Trinity’s pace and power for long.

After the turnaround, it was all one-way traffic as Trinity tightened the screws and ran circles around the tiring Vidyartha defence. The Trinitians scored almost at will, crossing the try line repeatedly and converting most of their efforts to pile on the points. Vidyartha, who fought bravely in the first half, could not find any answers after the break and were kept scoreless in the second session. Trinity’s forwards controlled the breakdowns, while their backs cut through gaps with ease to entertain the home crowd.
