As a part of the ‘snake handling’ module in the syllabus of the initial training of the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) programme of the Sri Lanka Navy, soldiers and officers engaged in the one-day programme at the Eluwankulama Gangewadiya Navy Camp on April 3.

The programme is conducted annually for new recruits, making them aware of the biological aspects in the method of handling snakes. A theoretical session was conducted in the morning session, while the practical session took place in the afternoon.

Wildlife Ranger D Amarasinghe and his team in the Karuwalagaswewa Wildlife Department backed the programme as resource persons providing necessary species.
