Seetha’s tale: Team of veterinarians conclude investigative report

View(s):

Prof. Pushpakumar, Dean at the University of Peradeniya’s Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Faculty, has sent the report on Seetha the elephant to the Mahiyangana Magistrate.

The findings of the report were put together by a team of veterinarians, headed by Dr K. Nisantha.

They said Seetha is being held at Ranawana, after she was shot in Mahiyanganaya.

Prof. Pushpakumar believed no x-ray could be done on the elephant near its lung or heart as there was no x-ray machine for elephants.

Meanwhile, Seetha’s owner S. M. Rohana, wanted to take this incident to an international court as he felt that the Wildlife Department and the Environment Ministry had not taken any actions to bring to book the alleged offender.

Neither had they given a correct picture of the incident to the public, he alleged.
