AI ready to be the future of the world

Once upon a time the cog of science fiction novels and space-age movies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now very tangible to us.

AI refers to the imitation of human intelligence in machines, allowing them to execute tasks that classically command human intelligence, such as problem-solving, learning, and decision-making.

As Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google says, AI is one of the most important things humanity is working on – It is more profound than electricity or fire.

From business applications to daily life, we are practically oblivious that many of us interact with AI every day.

“AI is supposed to be enabling people and it is enabling every component whether you are a small business or an enterprise, or you are an adjustment in businesses whether you are an individual contributor, you are a manager, you’re a leader, you are an HR, you are in finance, you’re in legal, or you are in supply chain across the functions,” Himani Agrawal – Country Head Azure, Microsoft India noted in an interview with the Business Times in Colombo.

AI is for everything basically from organisations to every individual in those organisations, she added reiterating that generated AI alone is not enough. Generative AI can certainly speed up the software development process, but it is no substitute for a detailed understanding of business requirements and context. “It will need a lot of other components of AI which already existed, like the cognitive services such as machine learning platform which actually then work with these business organisations, customers or whether they are assembly, enterprise or government to understand the use case that they have and build it in conjunction with their teams,” Ms. Agrawal explained.

One of the most important facets of AI is that it recognises fraudulent patterns and behaviours, all the while helping organisations spot and stop illegal activities, protect sensitive information, and boost cybersecurity shields.

AI cannot substitute human intelligence entirely. The idea that intelligent entities should be like humans often muddled the fact that AI had already made major strides, Ms. Agrawal pointed out, noting that while AI can perform certain tasks more quickly and accurately than humans, it lacks the same level of common intelligence, creativity, and social compassion humans enjoy.

Ms. Agrawal noted that AI will replace routine and repetitive tasks, permitting humans to pay attention to more dense and creative work all the while boosting efficiency and productivity.

To sum it up, AI looks ready to be the future of the world!
