Chandani adds colours to her C&C

Popular singing sensation Chandani Hettiarachchi and her band C & C celebrate their twenty five years of musical stint with a brand new musical promotion and a couple of new creations.
However, ‘Chandani, a talented and one of the most experienced vocal prodigy in the Lankan showbiz scene with over three decades of singing proficiency under her belt, enjoys leading her musical outfit C&C with new additions to its lineup.
The latest addition to the band are Jude Rushan and bassist Hiruni Virginia Fernando.
‘Jude is a versatile singer and he loves to experiments with new styles and different genres. He has been performing in the Maldives for three years and this is his first break with a band to perform for different audiences. Our bass player Hiruni is a multi-talented girl with vocal power and she is capable of playing any instrument’ Chandani explained.
The two longest standing members are Wasantha Fernando on lead guitar and drummer Dillan Visidagama. Lakmini Peiris is the second keyboardist of the band and do mainly harmony and covers totally different kind of side of vocals as well. Chaminda Hemaratna on keyboards handles the music side and all creations of the band.
‘Chaminda is now working on a couple of new creations to be added on our list of songs. We are capable of handling any kind of music at any place. We always cater to the audences’ said Chandani.
C&C caters to a wide range of music genres including Pop, Funk, Country, Soul, Alternative Rock, Jazz, modern Jazz, contemporary hits and Sri Lankan Baila.
Chandani and C&C have travelled to many countries during their two decades of performing life including USA, most of the European countries, Canada, Middle East, Australia and many Asian countries during this three decade of period for shows, concerts, dances and various corporate events.
Also the band has been performing at most of the leading hotels and venues in Colombo including Hilton Colombo for eight years and at the Cinnamon Grand for ten long years. ‘I am glad to mention that we have performed at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel for almost amazing twenty years and Kingsbury, Mount Lavinia and Galadari for some considerable period in different days of the week’ Chandani said.
The band also performs at weddings, private parties’ gigs and other special events. They operate in such a way that it brings a dynamic and vibrant energy to their performances on stage. They are frequently featured in various settings, including pubs, beach bars, clubs, concerts and corporate events.
‘I am so proud and happy to see positive comments and reviews from our fans on various media platforms including Instagram, FB, YouTube, Tiktok and also on print. That will definitely boost our moraityl and encourage us to work on new songs and creations’ Chandani added.
The band was in action recently at the two family events at Grand Monarch and Grand Bolgoda organised by Lions Club.
‘The Reunion Family get-together of St. Lawrence’s Convent, Wellawatta will be our next attraction at Pegasus Reef on October 21st, apart from our usual musical assignments at hotels’ she added.
‘Finally I want to thank all the music directors, who helped me in my originals during the past three decades. Sarath de Alwis, Clarence Wijewardena, Lakshman Hilmi, Kasun Kalhara Rookantha Goonathilake, Chaminda Hemaratna, Lucky Deva, Upali Kanaggara and Piyal Perera even though some of them are not living with us anymore’ Chandani said.
