PIM alumni offers help to overcome crisis
View(s):The Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni (PIMA) this week invited the media to make an offer: The alumni’s more than 6,000 professionals are willing to assist the government in the recovery of the economy and other fundamental issues at absolutely no cost!
Speaking at a news briefing at the Water’s Edge complex at Battaramulla, PIMA President Ramesh Dissanayake said that the association has probably the largest reservoir of the country’s talent pool and is offering its services in the key engagements of economic recovery.
“The PIMA has incredible value and potential through its membership and we need to collaborate with the Government in leveraging the collective knowledge skills we possess towards driving the nation’s revival from the current crisis towards prosperity,” he said.
At the head table during the discussions sat Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Dimantha Seneviratne, Director/CEO NDB – both members of the alumni and on its executive committee, reflecting the professionalism that it has in both the state and private sectors. The alumni is made up of those who passed out from the Postgraduate Institution of Management (PIM), the country’s top management institute which is affiliated to the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and is unique in being able to fund its own activities without a cent from the state.
According to Mr. Seneviratne, more than 350 top positions in the country are held by PIMA members with a classic example being half of the CEOs of the top 10 banks in the country are PIMA members.
“The stature of the PIM is reflected in the profiles of the PIMA members who demonstrate not just managerial skills but the ability to respond to rapidly developing situations,” he added.
