Vanessa creates another cricket history

View(s): Sri Lankan umpire Vanessa de Silva will script history this evening when she becomes the first Lankan lady umpire to officiate as a match referee at the U19 Women’s World T20 final between in India and England, in South Africa. That would also coincidentally mark the first-ever time a Sri Lankan female umpire has ever featured at an ICC tournament. Vanessa, 49, is also a former Sri Lankan captain, having captained the first one-day international women’s cricket match and thereby becoming the first female captain too.
