REJUVENATED – THE 10th INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE ROTARACT CLUB OF GENERAL SIR JOHN KOTELAWALA DEFENCE UNIVERSITY
View(s):Bringing together youngsters in exchanging ideas and developing leadership & Professional skills has always been a major objective of Rotaract and Rotary. Rotaract and Rotary working alongside each other, this community encourages taking action through great service. The Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University is one such amazing club with a team full of dedicated and skilled youngsters taking steps through great service. It was inaugurated on the 16th of September 2013 and has been serving the community as a voluntary non-profit organization with over 250 + members for the past 10 years.
Rotaract KDU being under the Rotaract District 3220 of Sri Lanka and Maldives, aims to provide university students a platform to shape up their leadership and professional skills Being One of the most prestigious clubs at the university, Rotaract KDU works on a variety of projects and new initiatives both inside and outside the walls of the institution. The club’s focus for the years 2022–2023 is on the theme “Undivided in Service,” emphasising our dedication to improving our community and the idea that we will always be stronger when we stand together rather than apart. With a fundamental objective of making sure that our efforts serve society both inside and outside of the university, the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University has always upheld the highest levels of professionalism and standards.
Having stepped into a new era, the Rotaract Club of KDU rejuvenated ceremonially for the 10th Installation Ceremony of President Rtr. Ashen Hewavithana & his board of officials on the 28th of October. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Major General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc the Rector of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Southern Campus, and the evening was graced by Brigadier W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Squadron Commanders, and Faculty Deans of KDU. The Guest of Honour for the ceremony was the president of the Rotary Club of Colombo, and the District Rotaract Chair, the District Rotaract Representative, members of the Rotaract District Steering committee, members from other Rotaract Clubs, Parents, General Members, and well-wishers all attended the event making it an unmatched success. With the election of his Board of Directors in July 2022, President Rtr. Ashen Hewavithana officially assumed leadership of the club during this ceremony. The occasion featured speeches from several officials and Rotaractors in attendance, together with a breathtaking musical performance by our very own KDU Rotaractors. Further certificates were awarded to the outgoing board of officials followed by the badging ceremony of the incoming board of officials. With a delightful ending, with dinner at the main Cafeteria premises.
Having completed a wonderful ceremonial commencement of the 10th Installation, The Rotaract club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University continues to serve Undivided in Service.
