Bristol Institute offers unique LLM Masters degree in Commercial Law for the new normal

As such , with the aim of uplifting the standards of the local legal profession through the grooming of new practitioners that will be well equipped to take on the legal challenges that would arise in the “New Normal” , Bristol Institute of Business Management has embarked on offering a unique LLM Masters in Commercial Law to the Sri Lankan market.

Chief Operating Officer M.J.M. Dilshad says  “Identifying this gap in the market, we ventured into law programmes by introducing a first-of-its-kind LLM Masters in Commercial Law targeted at those wishing to pursue business related legal education in an environment in which “Nothing’s Normal” anymore.”

He added “The LLM in Commercial Law is a specialist pathway for in depth study in law relating to the current business scenarios , its unique structure and in-built quality that will give students an added advantage when seeking employment” .

In partnership with the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol), the institute is offering its LLM programme to those who qualify the entry criteria of holding an honours degree of 2.2 or above in law, an honours degree of 2.2 or above in any other field with a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or the Common Professional Examination (CPE), or an honours degree of 2.2 or above in a related subject such as business, politics or international relations with relevant experience.

The programme encompasses a broad, contextual and critical understanding of the area of commercial law and also covers the operation of judicial, legislative and administrative action in relevant domestic, European and international contexts.

Designed by the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol), the programme runs for one year and includes modules such as International Contracts, International Banking and Finance Law, International Intellectual Property and International Commercial Disputes to name a few. The multifaceted nature of the programme makes it an ideal choice for those looking at entering the legal profession as well as those in the legal fraternity who wish to learn Commercial law as an added advantage for self-empowerment.

Located at Walukarama Road, Colombo 03, the institute offers students a state-of-the-art learning environment coupled with a distinguished faculty of lecturers including foreign faculty members and a dedicated Academic Department to ensure that student experience is top notch.
