Celebrating 25 years since sponsoring the first Stableford Golf Tournament, HSBC gets ready to sponsor a weekend full of competitive golf with two back to back tournaments scheduled in Colombo this month.

The HSBC 5-Club Stableford Golf Tournament is scheduled to be held from September 25 to 27 with HSBC’s exclusive Premier Golf Tournament held on September 26 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).

Both events will conclude with an awards ceremony held on September 27 at the RCGC Club House.

Traditionally, HSBC Premier has held the tournament across different locations in the country, expanding the game to Nuwara Eliya, Kandy and Hambantota.

This year’s tournaments are tipped to be more colourful, with an increasing number of golfers expected to participate in the Men’s A, B and C divisions as well as the Ladies’ and Seniors’ categories, showcasing their golfing skills and vying for the prestigious HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy.

Noting that HSBC Premier customers lead international lives and enjoy golf as part of their social lifestyle, HSBC’s endeavour is to make its refreshed HSBC Premier proposition truly a family affair and allow customers to have an international experience of the game right here in Sri Lanka.

As such, this year, HSBC will have an added attraction. Renowned, champion Golfer of the year 2016 and FedEx Cup winner, Henrik Stenson from Sweden will be featured via a live webinar for the first time in Sri Lanka. HSBC Premier customers can either sign up for this lifestyle series feature as an individual via Zoom or join the live screening at RCGC, which is open for members and their families on Tuesday at 5.00pm.

To spark interest in junior golfers to gain access to the tournament at an early age, HSBC plans to include an exclusive activity for HSBC Premier Junior golfers this year, giving them the opportunity to showcase their golfing skills with an 18-hole stroke play on September 25 at 2.00pm

HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the player with the highest Stableford points in any handicap group including Seniors and Ladies.

The HSBC 5-Club Tournament is open to all golfers of the RCGC with an active valid club handicap, while the HSBC Premier Golf Tournament will be opened to all HSBC Premier golfers in the Men’s A, B and C divisions as well as the Ladies’ and Seniors’ categories.

In Sri Lanka, HSBC sponsors three golf events – The HSBC 5 Club Golf tournament (25 years), HSBC Premier Golf tournament (eight years) and the HSBC Future Lions programme (Junior Golf) that introduced golf to over 700 youngsters in remote locations around the country in less than two years and produced 25 players that competed at national level from academies representing Hambantota, Killinochchi, Anuradhapura, Welisara, Kandy, Diyathalawa, Nuwara Eliya and Colombo.
