CCC School of Cricket to celebrate 22nd anniversary

CCC School of Cricket, found in 1998 by veteran cricket mentor Nelson Mendis, will celebrate its 22nd anniversary with the annual Inter-House Cricket Tournament, commencing on September 26. The tournament will be played over two days and will be concluded on September 27 at their home grounds the CCC grounds in Maitland Place.

The cricket school, which has gained much popularity as the leading cricket coaching school in the island, has more than 300 students. The youngsters will have two days of cricket and fun when their Under-9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 and Over-15 age group cricketers will turn up for their respective Houses – Bradman, Sobers, Tendulkar and Jayawardene, to battle it out for the championship. A match between the Old Boys and Present Boys is also on the card.

The Chief Guest on the occasion will be the present Test, ODI and T20 national cricketer and skipper of the champion Premier League team the CCC, Kusal Mendis.

The event, looked forward to by all students, coaches, parents and old boys and families, will provide an opportunity for all to enjoy, the heroics budding cricketers, fellowship and camaraderie.

The Parents’ Executive Committee led by Harsha Peiris has made elaborate arrangements to make the event a success. In preparation for the big event CCC School of Cricket Under-13 and Under-15 teams played practice matches with D.R. Cricket Academy and Sanjeewa Warusamana Cricket Academy.
