Philip Thilakwardena Vidyalaya , a school for secondary students located in Nawagamuwa, Kaduwela, said it is short of computers for its Information Technology classes .

The school’s Principal C.N. Liyanage said the computer lab has only three out-dated desktop computers donated by well wishers.

It was learned about 100 students in Grades Eight, Nine, Ten and Eleven had taken up the IT subject, and the available computers were inadequate for the computer lab.

The school’s repeated requests to the Education Ministry for computers had gone unheeded, Mr. Liyanage said.

The school has classes from Grade Six to Grade Eleven, with a student population of about 380. Mr. Liyanage said the school would appreciate any well wishers who would be able to donate either new or second-hand computers for its computer lab. (cc)
