Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) is the apex body for ICT Industry in association with Education & Higher Education Professionals are hosting a webinar on Accelerating Digital Education in the Digital Normal in Sinhala Medium’on Saturday, 18th July 2020 4pm onwards Sri Lankan Time.

The webinar will be presented by Mr.H.U.Premathilake, Additional Secretary (Education Quality Development), Ministry of Education, Prof. K.P. Hewagamage, Director of University of Colombo School of Computing, Prof. Gihan Dias, Professor of University of Moratuwa and Vice Chairman FITIS, Mr. G.M.Niel Gunadasa, Director of Education ( Data Management & ICT), Ministry of Education , Dr.Harsha Alles, Chairman of Gateway Groups of Organisations and moderated by Mr. Upul Dassanayake Immediate Past President of FITIS Education & Training Chapter & Director/CEO of School of Foreign Trade & Export Strategy.

The webinar will be targeted for academic, parents, students who are pursuing higher & secondary level studies, University students and professional programmes.

As the COVID-19 disease outbreak spread, the number of countries that started closing schools and universities increased rapidly. As digital transformation accelerates, the need for talent and tools to make it happen increases, and tools require training.

There is also a clear need to get people trained in these many areas where we’re now seeing more online solutions being used, such as telework. Whereas, this webinar will mainly deliberate in Sinhala on how to accelerate education by building remote or online learning programmes and how currently educational institutions managing the crisis in Sri Lanka.

This webinar is to bring discussion about the educational policy of the government and future direction in the digital normal, solutions and Digital infrastructure needed for the future digital learning and security aspects of digital education, online education from global perspective / Learning lessons from international Digital education systems, Challenges of digital education and how digital education can be used to improve skills of students and effectiveness and Quality of Digital Education.
