SriLankan Airlines will not be searching for a new partner to carry out its operations, a top official at the airline said on Tuesday.

Newly-appointed Chairman Ashok Pathirage said that they were not looking at a new partner to take on the airline but was focusing on the existing operations of the carrier.

He noted that they were currently in the process of drawing up a business plan to ensure the carrier’s operations were carried out.

High on the list of priorities for the carrier at present is to go ahead with the existing work being carried out where the airline is looking at restructuring itself.

The airline is yet to hold its first board meeting and the carrier has just received the new appointments to its board the previous week.

Brandix Group CEO Ashroff Omar, Dilmah Group Director Malik Fernando and lawyers Manohara De Silva PC and Samantha Ratwatte PC and the Asia-Pacific node for Boston Consulting Group’s shipping, transportation and logistics sectors Sanjaya Mohottala who is also a core member and Southeast Asia node for the Corporate Development and Principal Investors and Private Equity practices were appointed to the airline’s board.

The previously appointed restructuring committee had been looking at options of debt restructuring and raising capital in a bid to overcome its losses accrued since Emirates pulled out as its managing shareholder.
