Appointments to state agencies
View(s):The appointment of chairpersons and directors of the boards of state agencies have continued over the past week or more. Here are some of the appointments:
At the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the directors are Thilak Weerasinghe, Managing Director, Lanka Sportrizen; M. Shanthi Kumar, Director/Strategic Planning and Development, Ramada Colombo; P. Algama, Director General, Department of Public Finance, Treasury; Trevor Rajaratnam, Executive Director, Travel 7 (Pvt) Ltd; R.M.W.S. Samaradiwakara, Addl. Secretary/Ministry of Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs with Kimarli Fernando as the chairperson.
At the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, popular singer Iraj Weeraratne has been appointed as a director. The others are Chandani Werapitiya – Director General, SLTDA, Secretary to the Treasury/Representative, Uma Niranjanan – Director (Planning), Tourism Ministry, Dileep Mudadeniya, Angeline Ondaatjie, D. Chaminda Wickramasinghe, Mahen Kariyawasam, Nalin Jayasundara and Y. A. Hansen. The last six named directors represent the hotels and travel trade associations.
Ms. R. M. R. W. Manchanayake has been appointed as chairperson of the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) Bank. She is a lawyer and a retired Commissioner General of Inland Revenue.
At the Bank of Ceylon, Kanchana Ratwatte has been appointed its chairman. He is a lawyer and former Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.
The other directors are P. Lalith P.Withana, current CEO of Sri Lanka Catering; G. Harsha Wijayawardhana, a bio chemist who later became an IT consultant; Hasitha Premaratne, Group Finance Director at Brandix Group; and Visaka Amarasekere, ex officio director representing the Ministry of Finance.
At the Board of Investment in addition to Susantha Ratnayake being appointed its chairperson, the directors are Sanjay Kulatunga, Chairman /Co-Founder – Lynear Wealth, eminent lawyer and corporate director Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Dr. Harsha Subasinghe – President and CEO CodeGen Group of Companies, and Additional Secretary to the President T.T. Upulmali.
Lasantha Wickramasinghe has been appointed the new chairman of MILCO (Pvt) Ltd. He is a supply chain specialist.
